I served a single term as an AmeriCorps VISTA in the Anti-Hunger and Opportunity Corps at AARP Foundation. I worked from the national office in Washington, DC to coordinate the production and dissemination of SNAP outreach materials as well as develop, implement, and evaluate a pilot nutrition education program for food-insecure older adults. I created a comprehensive program coordinator and volunteer training process, managed a group of local volunteers, and provided technical assistance to program coordinators across the country. I assisted the Hunger Team in producing a business plan for continuation of the program.
In addition to my role as an AmeriCorps VISTA, I managed the production of a cross-sector summit about older adult food insecurity which brought together international food producers, health policy experts, and food security organizations.
