Split This Rock calls poets to a greater role in public life and fosters a national network of socially-engaged poets through ongoing programming in the Washington, DC area and a biennial festival. The Split This Rock Poetry Festival: Poems of Provocation and Witness brings together over 500 poets, activists, artists, and organizers for four days of readings, activism, and workshops. As part of the 2014 festival organizing team, I recruited, screened, and trained 60 volunteers to serve various roles leading up to and during the festival. I also conducted an internal-evaluation of festival planning processes and created a continuity book to assist with future festival planning.
